The General Association of Davidian Seventh-Day Adventists (GADSDA) has its origin in the 1930s with Victor Houteff, a Bulgarian Sabbath school teacher. Victor Houteff wrote and published a series of studies, books, and periodicals known as the Shepherd’s Rod series.
The movement swelled to great numbers in the middle of the Great Depression era; Houteff and his followers were able to build a thriving community surrounding Lake Waco with over 300 acres outside of Waco, Texas.
In the 1970s, after Houteff died in 1955, a small group of believers came to Salem, SC to join fellow believers from that movement. There, Davidians united to continue publishing Houteff's writings and officially incorporated as a nonprofit corporation (GADSDA) in 1970.
Over time, our organization became affectionately known as the "Salem Association" because of our location in the Salem, SC area.
Our organization continues to print Houteff's original writings to this day, offering them in hard copy manuscripts and volume series.
